A business based in the North of England undertook a strategic session with their Strategic Planner...There was some tension between the two equal director/shareholders. The day began with both directors being enthused and motivated by the initial part of the Strategic Planning Toolkit. When it came to the '‘Personal Objectives’ there was no hint of the bombshell that was to come. When asked by the Strategic Planner ‘If there were any further things that one owner wanted to say’ she replied, ‘I want to live in Milton Keynes!’ The other director had not expected this. How could his fellow director run a business in Sheffield and live in Milton Keynes? In this one instance all the problems that the two directors had been experiencing were explained.
The lesson here is that whatever happens on an Strategy Planning Toolkit day as long as the owners are in control of planning their destiny everything is fine. |
